• Certified Identity Both sender and recipient(s) identity cannot be faked. This is in stark contrast to email, where it is very easy to create fake identities
• Certified Timestamp The time of sending is certified and cannot be tampered with. Again this is in contrast with EMail, where it is fairly easy to spoof timestamps.
• Proof of Sending The TMail Tracking number acts as an irrefutable proof of sending.
• Guaranteed Delivery The TMail is guaranteed to be delivered to a TMail recipient’s TMail Inbox.
• Certified Acknowledgements If the recipient chooses to pro-actively acknowledge the certified mail, the acknowledgement is also certified.
• Certified Tracking Number Every certified mail has a certified, unique, permanent tracking number that can be used to refer to the certified mail

TMail Certified Mails provide an enhanced set of guarantees and certifications that go beyond what traditional certified mail provides making the capability vastly more useful.

• Certified Content: With certified mails not only is meta-data such as identity, timestamp etc. certified, but the content is also certified. For example, if HR sends a certified mail to employees with a new policy, not only is the ‘envelope’ certified, but the actual policy associated with the envelope is certified. This capability vastly increases the value of certification.
• Certified Forwards: Similar to how EMails can be forwarded, TMails can also be optionally forwarded. In both cases, content being forwarded can be modified or deleted. In TMail, forwarded content that is modified or deleted is marked as such. The converse is that unmodified, undeleted forwards are certified to be unmodified and undeleted.
• Chain of Certification: Certified TMails and their Certified Forwards form a Chain of Certification. This allows certifications to be transitively propagated. For example, if a Doctor sends a patient a certified TMail with a prescription, the patient can do a certified forward of that TMail to the pharmacy. The pharmacy can rely on the accuracy of the prescription (in terms of Doctor identity, timestamp, content etc.) without having to contact the Doctor to verify.
• Certified Updates: Unlike EMails, TMails can be updated via Update Messages. Update Messages do not change history. Instead they add updates to an existing history of updates. These update messages are also certified.
• Certified Differences: When a TMail is updated via a non-destructive update message, the difference between the updated content before and after is computed. When computed, these differences are certified. This capability means that not only does each party not have to compute their ‘own’ differences, but also that there is an non-repudiable agreed difference.
• Certified Audit Trail: The original version of the TMail and the list of subsequent certified updates (if any) collectively form a certified audit trail.
• Synchronized Clocks: With EMail, each user’s computers and mail servers have their own (unsynchronized) clocks. This means that timestamps are very rough in nature. With TMail, all elements of the system have a single, synchronized clock. This means that their is no ambiguity with respect to any timestamp.
